“Excellent communication on the order by Carrie with immediate delivery. I cannot believe how informative the DVDs are. I am thoroughly enjoying your DVDs and I can’t believe how much you learn by just watching someone else explain the steps and point out the really important aspects of painting from a photo. After watching the first tutorial I was able to produce a painting that I was proud of. I would highly recommend these DVDs to anyone – well worth the money”

Carrie,

I wanted to let you know I think your tutorial about “Painting Our Animal Friends” is wonderful. I have learned so much from all 3 of your tutorials. They are some of the best available. You should do one on painting landscapes. Let me know if you do any more. I will definitely buy them. Denise_______________________________________

I really am enjoying your DVD’s because I like how you talk through every step – mistakes and redo’s as well, because I make plenty of them. It’s useful to see how you handle them. Also you don’t skip and leave out anything!!! Some tutorials do, and I always wonder how they got what they got, since they didn’t show me.

Awesome Tutorial Carrie!

Just rcv’d your DVD today. Learned so many techniques and tips.  Going
to watch it again and make a ‘Cliff Notes’ cheat sheet of things to  do
while doing your artsy stuff on my stuff. And your voice  sounds great,
very pleasant to listen to.
Thanks for doing it!

Recieved your tutorial on Sports Painting and it works beautifully.  Thank you so much for doing this.  I have only been able to watch lessons one thru three since I didn’t get it until late last night but I know I’ve learned a lot already.  I know it may sound silly but getting to watch this, I equate it to dessert after a meal and feel that I must do all of my other computer work first and then I get to Paint and learn to Paint.

Thanks again, thanks for sharing!

I am thrilled to have learned so much from your newest DVD.  I first purchased your Sports Tutorial DVD and that was just the beginning of my learning to add color and trying something different but exciting.  I would usually have stayed with a brush that would have stayed within the lines and wondered why it always ended up looking like the photograph I had taken.  Then after watching every moment of your newest “Painted Portraits”, it just opened up the flood gates to “my daring to experiment” with colors, brushes and different textures.  The wonderful way you worked into the tutorial some of the adjustments that really does make such a difference.  Having worked with photoshop for years, I don’t know why it had never occurred to me to use PS to enhance after Painter.  I know we never stop learning and now I am more excited than ever about what I’m doing because this tutorial was a quantum leap forward for me.

Thank you for sharing.  Needless to say, I’ll be hoping and looking forward to any tutorial you publish/sell.

the truth is that it was your Painted Sports DVD that finally gave me the break-through and techniques I sorely needed to make my work in Painter finally look “painted”.

Upon watching it for about the 6th or 7th time (no lie!), suddenly when you made the comment that “it’s the colors you add” that make the painting yours alone. Prior to this, all the DVDs I have from other artists are of what I call the “grainy water school” of painting – they mostly just go over the image with the grainy water brush and call it “painted”.  Well, that always just looked like a blurry photo to me, not painted looking at all.

And your “clone-blending” technique (that’s what I call it anyway – when you click in the clone button and both blend the color corrected image you are working on and bring back some detail from the original image at the same time – is just pure magic!  I don’t know how or where you learned that technique, but I’ve never seen anyone but you use it and it is a magnificent technique.

And now that I received your “Portrait Painting” DVD last week, I really see the genius of “clone-blending”.  I didn’t understand at first what you were doing, why you were “clone-blending” on an image that was an exact duplicate of the clone source.  Then it finally hit me – by doing that and just clicking back and forth on the clone button – you can both blend and add new color WITHOUT having to constantly change the resat settings on your brush – pure genius!!!!!

Having to constantly “reset the resat” up to now as I was alternating between blending and painting has been driving me mad!  I’d sample a color and start to paint and then wonder why the color wasn’t showing up until I would realize I had zeroed out the resat.  Then I would forget what the original resat percentage of the brush was and either have to guess or restore the default variant – all just to add a dash of color to one spot.  Then I’d have to zero out again to blend in the color I just added.  And as maddening as all that was, the worst aspect of all this resetting of the brushes is that it really breaks up your painting “flow”.  But now, once again thanks to your excellent techniques, I am free from that madness!  From now on I will paint freely as you do just by clicking back and forth on the clone button to alternate between blending and painting – no more “resetting the resat”.  And if I want detail back from the original, I’ll just change my clone source back to the original.  Just pure genius!

I wish your excellent DVDs were available when I first started to learn Painter – it would have cut my learning curve to practically zero!  And they would have saved me from spending a lot of money on other DVDs and classes which frankly I learned very little from.  In my humble opinion, no one else out there but you demonstrates any real painting techniques – they just promote the “grainy water school” of painting.

Honestly, I was about to completely give up on Painter and just stick with Photoshop smudging technique as learned from Brad Buttry’s also excellent DVDs until your Sports Painting DVD came out.  In my humble opinion, the only DVD’s out there worth their weight in gold are yours and Brad’s.  Now I can confidently work using both programs, as needed.  Frankly, I’ve thought about putting the rest of my “collection” up for sale on E-bay – I can’t get back the time they wasted on me, but at least I could get back some of the money! LOL!

Thanks so much for everything!
Sincerely,
Jan Hogan
