Welcome to my new site!

Well this is pretty exciting. Chris (http://www.studiochris.us/) set this site up for me and was a real pleasure to work with. Patience and knowledge is a specialty with him. Thank you Chris for all your help. Very fun experience!

I have always had an interest in some type of art/craft since I was very young. On holidays I would paint our windows and my parents would say how good it was. Looking back now it was very basic but as a young child that kept a smile on my face and would want to try more. I dabbled in making clay Santas a few years ago and was fairly pleased with the outcome. Not perfect by any means but still something different and festive. Now my extra time has been learning this “Digital” form of art. I have seen some amazing stuff from many artists.

For about the last 3 years, (2004), I have been using Photoshop and Painter to learn how to create digital “Art”. Truly an exciting learning experience and along the way meeting wonderful and thoughtful “cyber” friends. I started out using my mouse and many types of actions to come up with interesting and paintlery effects. Then a few people were posting paintings on DPreview/retouching forums which intrigued me even more to learn that process.

Marilyn Sholin, another great artist, had the foresight to start a website for those of us that really wanted to learn more about this addicting form of painting from eachother and other professional teachers, and artists. I credit most of my improvement and further improvement to her site. http://www.digitalpaintingforum.com/

After using a mouse for many months, I was given a Birthday gift to Amazon and thought I would get this ravely talked about thing called the Wacom Tablet. Well, after getting that I very rarely use the mouse and never use it to paint. The difference with the tablet is the pen is pressure sensitive and gives greater control with the Painter brushes.

All my paintings are done by hand using the Wacom tablet and pen. Sometimes I may use an action to get me going or for an underpainting to work with or even add a different dimension. Each painting can take anywhere from a couple hours or many to paint.

Thru the years taking alot of pictures of my son and his baseball team I thought I would paint a few. I loved the action and intensity even at such a young age. After recieving a fair amount of compliments, I challenged myself to work with people, portraits, and animals. Many people were asking, “How do you do that?” so I made a couple DVD’s for others to see the detailed approach rather than trying to explain it.

Thank you to all my many friends that have helped me along the way, I hope you enjoy browsing my site!
